Vistaite Jasper Cabochon 58ctThe rarest of jaspers, Vistaite is an old stock mined out stone from a ridge above Walton Lake, in the Ochoco Mountains, Oregon. The deposit has been extinct for decades. Recent reports of finds have been realised to be misidentified examples of nearby Skaggs or Ochoco Green Jasper rather then Vistaite. Discovered and mined in the 60s by Oregon rock shop owners Hoot Elkins and Shirts Quant, our supplier sourced material from Hoot's daughter Judy

This stone is still currently being mined but it has been increasingly difficult to find the material containing the bluish/purple hues with the lovely black dendrites and so now if considered rare material
